I have taught writing, literature, and radio journalism in both university and community settings. I also teach yoga.

At Columbia University (2016 - 2021), I primarily taught an intensive first-year writing seminar centered on human rights. I was also a Fellow at the Graduate Writing Studio, where I facilitated writing groups, designed and led writing workshops, and provided one-on-one consultations to writer-researchers in many fields. I also periodically led discussion sections for courses on literary theory, literatures of migration, and Ulysses.

In South Sudan (2014 - 2015), I taught radio reporting to a team of community journalists in refugee camps in Malakal and Juba. Together, we produced two weekly 25-min radio shows (in Nuer, Arabic, and sometimes Shilluk) providing information about local happenings and the ongoing civil war. You can read more about the Malakal team’s work here.

At the University of Liberia (2010 - 2011), I taught a practicum on human rights reporting based at the university radio station, Lux FM. My students covered stories including corporate pollution, the Ivorian refugee crisis, and the underground abortion market.
